Why are some colleges so far behind the NFL to staighten up the hoodlum antics of the players?

Don't the NFL wannabes get a clue? You want a job, be a team player. How to get the message across? We want good football Sat. afternoons, not gang violence. There's enough of that downtown.

Why are some colleges so far behind the NFL to staighten up the hoodlum antics of the players?nba players

I don't know that the NFL is any better at it; look at the guy on Tennessee who kicked the other player in the head and gashed his face open, not to mention all the criminal acts that go on off the field by players who should know better. I think the PR is just better. If anything, there are MORE thugs playing on Sunday, to the extent they rein it in it probably reflects the league's abiltity to dock their pay.

Why are some colleges so far behind the NFL to staighten up the hoodlum antics of the players?nba draft prospects ,nba teams

No they are driven by violence, unfortunately its good TV. Universities and colleges make millions on these teams, what brings a blind eye faster than anything....MONEY!!! BTW.....an embarrased HOKIE.
These kids don't go tocollegeand suddenly become different people. If you take an agressive macho jock and send him to college, he is still an aggressive macho jock. Thats that.

And in Football they nurture aggressiveness, so don't be surprised if a fight should break out from time to time on the field.

I don't think its a bad thing. When I was a kid, like most boys, occasionally I got into a fight on the playground because for any number of reasons, but most of the time you play with those same kids the next day.
Well maybe if the NFL was less willing to take them thugs *cough* Dolphins took Marcus Vick *cough* then the colleges would also be more willing to clean them up. Hey those players do good and get teh money to the school and that is all that matters in college. Then the Pros take them anyway. If the Pros said WE WON'T TAKE THEM. The colleges proably would be quicker to get rid of them because they wouldnt' bring the money in as much.
The pros punish bad behavior. Colleges want to attract players so they put up with more.
I agree that enough is enough with the hoodlums incollegefootball. I think it has a lot to do with the maturity level of thecollegeplayers. They are still kids. The NFL does not tolerate any footbrawl going on because these are supposed to be professionals paid to pay the game with class.

NFL refs patting players coming out of the locker room?

During the Patriot's last game, the TV showed the players coming out of the locker room at halftime. As they filed by, a man next to one of the refs was telling the ref to "check" a few of the players as they walked by. The ref could be seen calling to them and they would very briefly put their arms out to the side and he would "pat" around their upper sides near their armpit and chest area very briefly. It was quick - they barely even slowed down. What was this?

They were looking to see if they brought cash with them to pay off the field judge
That is weird I wanna know.
Yeah i noticed that too during the Patriots Giants game. No idea what for. Probably in case they rigged their jerseys/pads.
I think they were checking for wires or anything that would lead them to believe the player was taping (audio or video) the game. It would be super easy for a player to wear a microphone (nfl films does it all the time) so that they could record calls being made at the line (audibles, shifts, etc.)
A lot of times defensive line guys as well as wr/rb have been accused of "greasing" their uniforms (with vaseline or oil) if the other team said something they will usually check if anything is found they make them switch jerseys

How is the first pick in the NFL draft determined if more than one team has the worst record in the

there's a good chance that new orleans will lose to tampa bay and green bay will lose to seattle this weekend, putting them at 3-13 for the season. if houston beats san francisco, that would result in 4 teams with a 3-13 record. how is the reggie bush sweepstakes and i guess the rest of the draft order determined?

How is the first pick in the NFL draft determined if more than one team has the worst record in the league?nba merchandise

According to an article on espn.com, if the Texans, 49ers, Packers, Jets and Saints all end up with a record of 3-13, strength of schedule will step in. The Saints have the weakest SOS, so if there is a 5-way tie, New Orleans gets the first pick. After them comes Green Bay, then the Jets, Texans, and finally the 49ers. Of course, the Texans could just lose and make the #1 overall pick scenario a lot easier.

How is the first pick in the NFL draft determined if more than one team has the worst record in the league?2003 nba draft ,nba teams

Put simply, if four teams are at 3-13, then the first pick goes to the team whose opponents have the worst record. Presumably, a team that loses to a bad team is weaker than a team that loses to a good team, so they get to pick first.
Here is how the first pick and the rest of the Draft Order is determined:

? The team with the lowest winning percentage at the end of the previous season drafts first in the NFL Draft.

? The rest of the teams are placed in order from lowest winning percentage to the highest.

? The Super Bowl winner drafts last, even if they do not have the highest winning percentage.

? The Super Bowl loser drafts next to last.

? Strength of schedule for the previous season is the first tie-breaker for teams with the same winning percentage.

? Divisional and conference records are the next step in the tie-breaking procedure.

? As a last resort, a coin toss is used to determine the order of selection for teams with the same winning percentage.

? If a playoff and non-playoff team end the season with the same winning percentage, the non-playoff team selects before the playoff team regardless of strength of schedule.

This is a well-timed question considering the current problem of Pacman Jones's problem of reinstatement. It seems Goodell is all ready to allow him back in the league, but Jones is demanding to be allowed Dom Perignon on the sidelines, and access to the cheerleaders during TV timeouts. Dom Perignon, of course, is not an NFL licensed product.

To the person, who said that cheaters never win: yes, they never won 16 games this season...

Grow up. EVERY team in NFL does the same thing. Every team. Why do you think they have several people on the sidelines giving signals, but only one of them is the real signal caller? Why do coaches cover their faces with play cards when they talk? It's been going on forever.

I'm not even Pats fan, but I can say I've not seen a team this good since Montana's 49rs.
Perfect= Flawless.

They were not Flawless thus they are not perfect..

They went undefeated but not perfect.....

The NFL won't do anything to them.
It's still a pretty good record, but it won't mean that much unless they go all the way. If they do then I can say anything to my idiot friends who are Patriot fans. If not, they will not hear the end of it
the patriots probably cheated this year too.

i thikn it was last year when they were getting lip readers to get the plays from the coaches and players

so mainly the patriots are useless
What the hell do you mean when they fail to win? Stop hating, hater.
None... given that the schedule's only 16 games, the 'most wins' statistic doesn't mean as much as in say, baseball, where the season is 162 games.
whether or not the pats make the bowl or not, they still have to be given credit for a history making, record-breaking season.
none
You assume the Patriots will lose, which is a huge mistake to underestimate them.....

Go Patriots 16-0 !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I think they will lose in the playoffs as well. There will be some significance to their accomplishment in the regular season, since it is currently a record for most wins in a regular season. The Super Bowl is the most important thing though, so the Patriots cannot be considered the best team ever if they don't win it. So if they blow it, all is for naught.
Whether they win the Superbowl or not they still are only the second team to ever go the whole schedule undefeated. Every body can blow a game. that's why many said they should have played third string against the Giants and lost on purpose so as not to be pressured from that point. Best team ever. Well some games have been no less than brilliant.
If they dont win the Super Bowl it isnt a perfect season.
They will be defeated by the jags!!!

Cheaters never win
Im not going to give it any importance. Just because they won all their games in the regular season is pointless because they didnt win the superbowl. I would say that a 9-7 regular season is better than a 16-0 regular season as long as your the one holding up the superbowl trophy.
The NFL should give no importance to the Pats being perfect. If you can't finish off the season with a Super Bowl, you don't deserve to be called "The best team in history".
i could care less what the nfl does to recognize the failure...

i wanna feed the crow to the idjits on here.
When the Jewish Pope doesn't give Mass at the Vatican, will Bears stop pooping in the woods.
the best team in history
i think that because the playoffs are "post" season, it can still be said that they had a perfect "season"

Does the NFL have any guidelines on Cheerleaders garb?

I mean, what with the Janet fiasco, they seemed so 'appalled' for the measley split millionth of a second peep show, yet the cheerleaders are seen bouncing and bobbing in basically their underwear week after week, including the long panning shots from the photographer.

Does the NFL have ANY say or control???

Does the NFL have any guidelines on Cheerleaders garb?nba.com

Well I have felt the same way. Lets take the Dallas Cowboys. They think that a girl who ways 140-150 is the biggest cheerleader the ever have seen! They cut people that weigh over 140 because they say that there uniforms are not forgiving. But if they cover up some more average size girls could cheer. But because they do all this charity stuff and are so well know that it makes up For that. My husband lived in Texas and is a big Cowboy fan and he say that Jerry Jones the owner has a big part in what they wear. I think its is appalling.

Does the NFL have any guidelines on Cheerleaders garb?baseball ,nba teams

I dont know but the Cowboys cheerleaders sure are hot.
lol hope not but the players do need to worry bout game haha
Um the players still have to concentrate on the game you know.. lets not make (it) any (harder) for them to play ball.
They have to WEAR CLOTHES. Sure they are next to nothing BUT the cheerleaders aren't exposing skin like that. Although I have yet to grasp the big deal about what Janet Jackson did. So she got a split-second flash in. Not like no one could see her **** if they didn't try. If anything the outrage should be that she is showing her **** at her age. Come on there are pictures of her nude from when she was younger. Anyway the NFL and CBS handled it perfectly at that time. Too bad no one handled it perfectly afterward. If the MEDIA ignored it then most of America would have missed it. Most of the rest wouldn't have really cared. The real outrage should have been the song.
The owners control the Cheerleaders with the NFL overseeing the uniforms are within decency and NFL uniform standards. I say they should body paint the cheerleader outfits on the women!!! LOL

How do you make the playoffs if it is a tie in the nfl?

what if the record and division record is the same same incollegewho wins the conference if they have never played and they have the same division and overall record.

How do you make the playoffs if it is a tie in the nfl?nba street v3

The six postseason participants from each conference will be seeded as follows:

1. The division champion with the best record.

2. The division champion with the second-best record.

3. The division champion with the third-best record.

4. The division champion with the fourth-best record.

5. The Wild Card club with the best record.

6. The Wild Card club with the second-best record.

The following procedures will be used to break standings ties for postseason playoffs and to determine regular-season schedules.

NOTE: Tie games count as one-half win and one-half loss for both clubs.

TO BREAK A TIE WITHIN A DIVISION

If, at the end of the regular season, two or more clubs in the same division finish with identical won-lost-tied percentages, the following steps will be taken until a champion is determined.

Two Clubs

1. Head-to-head (best won-lost-tied percentage in games between the clubs).

2. Best won-lost-tied percentage in games played within the division.

3. Best won-lost-tied percentage in common games.

4. Best won-lost-tied percentage in games played within the conference.

5. Strength of victory.

6. Strength of schedule.

7. Best combined ranking among conference teams in points scored and points allowed.

8. Best combined ranking among all teams in points scored and points allowed.

9. Best net points in common games.

10. Best net points in all games.

11. Best net touchdowns in all games.

Three or More Clubs

(Note: If two clubs remain tied after third or other clubs are eliminated during any step, tie breaker reverts to step 1 of the two-club format).

1. Head-to-head (best won-lost-tied percentage in games among the clubs).

TO BREAK A TIE FOR THE WILD-CARD TEAM OR AMONG DIVISION WINNERS

If it is necessary to break ties to determine the two Wild-Card clubs from each conference, the following steps will be taken.

1. If the tied clubs are from the same division, apply division tie breaker.

2. If the tied clubs are from different divisions, apply the following steps.

Two Clubs

1. Head-to-head, if applicable.

2. Best won-lost-tied percentage in games played within the conference.

3. Best won-lost-tied percentage in common games, minimum of four.

4. Strength of victory.

5. Strength of schedule.

6. Best combined ranking among conference teams in points scored and points allowed.

7. Best combined ranking among all teams in points scored and points allowed.

8. Best net points in conference games.

9. Best net points in all games.

10. Best net touchdowns in all games.

11. Coin toss.

Three or More Clubs

(Note: If two clubs remain tied after third or other clubs are eliminated, tie breaker reverts to step 1 of applicable two-club format.)

1. Apply division tie breaker to eliminate all but the highest ranked club in each division prior to proceeding to step 2. The original seeding within a division upon application of the division tie breaker remains the same for all subsequent applications of the procedure that are necessary to identify the two Wild-Card participants.

2. Head-to-head sweep. (Applicable only if one club has defeated each of the others or if one club has lost to each of the others.)

3. Best won-lost-tied percentage in games played within the conference.

4. Best won-lost-tied percentage in common games, minimum of four.

5. Strength of victory.

6. Strength of schedule.

7. Best combined ranking among conference teams in points scored and points allowed.

8. Best combined ranking among all teams in points scored and points allowed.

9. Best net points in conference games.

10. Best net points in all games.

11. Best net touchdowns in all games.

12. Coin toss

When the first Wild-Card team has been identified, the procedure is repeated to name the second Wild-Card, i.e., eliminate all but the highest-ranked club in each division prior to proceeding to step 2. In situations where three or more teams from the same division are involved in the procedure, the original seeding of the teams remains the same for subsequent applications of the tie breaker if the top-ranked team in that division qualifies for a Wild-Card berth.

OTHER TIE-BREAKING PROCEDURES

1. Only one club advances to the playoffs in any tie-breaking step. Remaining tied clubs revert to the first step of the applicable division or Wild-Card tie breakers. As an example, if two clubs remain tied in any tie-breaker step after all other clubs have been eliminated, the procedure reverts to step one of the two-club format to determine the winner. When one club wins the tie breaker, all other clubs revert to step 1 of the applicable two-club or three-club format.

2. In comparing division and conference records or records against common opponents among tied teams, the best won-lost-tied percentage is the deciding factor since teams may have played an unequal number of games.

3. To determine home-field priority among division titlists, apply Wild-Card tie breakers.

4. To determine home-field priority for Wild-Card qualifiers, apply division tie breakers (if teams are from the same division) or Wild-Card tie breakers (if teams are from different divisions).

TIE-BREAKING PROCEDURE FOR DRAFT

If two or more clubs are tied in the selection order, the strength-of-schedule tie breaker is applied, subject to the following exceptions for playoff clubs:

1. The Super Bowl winner is last and the Super Bowl loser next-to-last.

2. Any non-Super Bowl playoff club involved in a tie shall be assigned priority within its segment below that of non-playoff clubs and in the order that the playoff clubs exited from the playoffs. Thus, within a tied segment a playoff club that loses in the Wild-Card game will have priority over a playoff club that loses in the Divisional playoff game, which in turn will have priority over a club that loses in the Conference Championship game. If two tied clubs exited the playoffs in the same round, the tie is broken by strength of schedule.

If any ties cannot be broken by strength of schedule, the divisional or conference tie breakers, whichever are applicable, are applied. Any ties that still exist are broken by a coin flip.

If the NFL eliminates the salery cap for good?

which teams will have the best chance to dominate and would that spell an end to a great franchise like Green Bay which is a smaller market? is this a good idea or not?

well this is tuff...see it's good for the players who say that compared to MLB and the NBA that they are underpaid..so it's good in that sense and that sense alone...see i'm a cowboy fan so it's good for cowboys fans and me because we are a bigger market team with an owner with deep pockets so yes on that one...but as a whole it's not good for the rest of the leauge...and yes a team like green bay would suffer and suffer big....teams like the redskins and cowboys would dominate the free agent markets incedibly..and the way it looks as of right now i think the owners dont mind not having a salery cap either..its a way for them to find an excuse to jack up prices for there games which is already astronomical in a sense.

If the NFL eliminates the salery cap for good?celtics ,nba teams

I am shocked that not a single person said Washington Redskins. Most expensive seats, sellouts every game, highest revenue period. Without a cap, the Skins would become the Yankees of football. Report It

The ones in big markets like new york chicago and la. Or the ones run by jews.
It's not likely to happen. Jerry Jones can wish on a star all he wants, but not likely to see it ended for good. Let's just say that the players back out of this CBA and the salary cap is to go away in 2010. OK how long do you think before a new CBA is done that includes a Salary Cap again? I don't think it takes too long, because I think owners now recognize the need for one. All the owners would have to do to get it back is prove they are ready for a lock-out and I'm sure most, if not ALL, have the money for a year of non-operation already set aside. If they didn't yet they would be 2010. It happened in the NHL and could happen in the NFL if needed.

Like I said this would be Jerry Jones wet dream. He has the money, and players would want to play for the Cowboys. Sure others like Dan Synder have the money, but not all of them have the common sense(once again see Dan Synder).
That would be very unfair. And Green Bay would just collapse because it isn't owned by one owner.
The Cowboys and Giants would likely dominate by buying all the best players.

to 5 time SB champ --- just because SD is a highly populated city, doesn't mean the Chargers are a big market team (we are not, in fact, we're near the bottom, we'd be F'd if the cap is gone in '10). SD does not have the high # of Fortune 500 companies like many other big cities do.
The large market teams ( Dallas ,New England ,New York ,San Diego) would basically dominate the NFL and put smaller market teams ( Green Bay, New Orleans,St.Louis) in the red .

2) once you have a wristband, arrive several hrs early to get a decent seat.

Yes, if the other divisions suck that bad...Its all about the W-L record...Division champs are automatic...and then ties and wildcards are settled by division records...
Sure~!
Not those 3... But yeah its possible
Do the Jags have the tie breaker on the Browns? They both have identical records.

Both the AFC and NFC West stink. No team over .500
Yes, it is possible, and in fact, if the season ended today, those three would all be in the playoffs. The wild card spots are solely based on a team's record. All the non-leading division teams in the rest of the AFC have records below the Titans and the Jags, and based on their first half performances, I wouldn't be a bit surprised to see those two teams take the wild card. Indy will win the south in a walk. Heck, Tennessee and Jacksonville have better records than the Chiefs who are in first place in the North.
Yes 3 from NFC east made it last year.

The wild card winners in each conference are the 2 teams with the best record that did not win their Division, so in a division that wins most of there out of Div games and nearly split the div games will most likely get 3 in.

NFC EAST and AFC South are most likely for that to happen this year.
1 as div champ and 2 as wild cards. Yes it can happen.
Yes, each division winner goes and then the rest of the spots are determined by their win-loss records. The best records in the conference are in regardless of what division they belong to.

Yes... Wild card is based simply on record.

Most likely would be inthe NFc East.

Should the NFL stop having AFC vs. NFC games during the regular season?

For the following reasons:

It would rekindle a (very) little of the old AFL / NFL days rivalry.

Main reason is this, thanks to the 2002 realingment, with it's 4 division, 2 wildcard format. It makes the inter-conference games even more important than in the past, sometimes equal to a divisional game. And there are not enough of them in the regular season. You actually need to eliminate the 4 cross-conferance games each year so you can have as many potential playoff tiebreaker 1 on 1 games as possible in the regular season.

That would give the Super Bowl even a little more mystique.

Besides, we have seen more 8-8 playoff teams from 2002-2006 than from 1978-2001. I think it would improve the quality of playoff teams.

Just a thought.

Or you now what? The old 3 division, 3 wildcard system would be great.

I'll take either-or.

Should the NFL stop having AFC vs. NFC games during the regular season?nhl

I'm not sure I agree with the inter-conference games being more important than they were. Regardless of who you play, the idea is to win as many games as you can so you can get into the playoffs.

Plus having those games agaisnt the other conference allows fans to see players they otherwise wouldn't see. And actually, when the NFL went to the 4-division format, they streamlined the schedule so that every team will play each other at least every 4 years, and every team will visit every other team's stadium at least once every 8 years. In the old system some teams never got to play each other (for instance, Tampa Bay, after all these years, has never played in Buffalo). It's designed to be very fan-friendly, and I think it's great.

If you want to add more intra-conference games, you'd have to lengthen the schedule. If your logic is correct, perhaps it is time to go to 18 regular-season games and 2 preseason games.

If Michael Vick ever comes back to the NFL, how good will he be?nba salary cap ,nba teams

he wuz never tht good
I don't know if he will ever come back, but if he does, there is no way he will be a quarterback. He will be only 29 when he gets out of prison, so if he can stay in shape in prison, he will still have his athletic ability.

The problem is, he was never a great quarterback to begin with. He was a great athlete who was more running back trying to play quarterback. Good quarterbacks study and work year round to be good, Vick won't get the work he needs in prison. If any team gives him a chance, and if he still has his athletic ability , he will be more of a special teams guy. I can see him returning punts and kickoffs, and maybe playing some wide receiver.

He won't learn how to call more plays, or learn how to lead his team while he is in prison, but he can still be a useful player if given a chance.
Prison League If he's lucky....
If he was ever allowed back in the NFL, he would not even be close to the player he was before. He would last a season or two at the most.

But I hope he never touches a football on any pro or semi-pro teams for the rest of his life.
i dont know. how good he is would be up to him.
he will probably be close to the same as he was before. hes not in a federal pin, so in state prison they still get free time and stuff, and im sure he will spend alot of that time throwing around a football and running and working out. He will most likely be a little behind, but he will bounce back and be just as good as before
he wont come back at least not to falcons basically as of right now falcons have unofficially disowned him
i don't believe that he will come back
He's not going to be let back in. They have rules regarding personal conduct and frankly he broke several.
All that depends on what he does with his time, while locked up. No matter what he does, I don't think he will come out faster.
I think it'd take him a little bit 'til he can get back in form... if he works out and keep up his stamina, he'll be able to do it faster. Also.. he may have trouble playing his first season back.. feeling all guilty and paranoid that everyone's thinkin' negatively of him.
He's never coming back!!Who wants him?Even if he dose it would be 3 or 4 years from now!!No team wants to deal with him!!He will be fat ,slow and lazy!!One word welfare!!
If he stays in shape while in prison (a BIG if) and if the NFL Commissioner reinstates him, then there are always teams with needs that will give him a chance. Hey they are still giving Ricky Williams chances. Coming back as a starting QB???? I don't see that happening. Maybe a backup or at best a starting wideout if is willing to go for the change. We'll see how many of those IF'S get answered in about 3 more years.
Let me consult my crystal ball... mmmm .... ..... mm.. .. hold on, I am getting something... ommmmm ...

idk
He is practicing as a TE right now soon to be a WR. woof.
i dont kno i hope so.if he does not have speed, all he has is incredibly strong arm, but hes not accurate at all. but maybe he will stay in shape running away from guys tryin to rape him in jail

Has any NFL team mastered the art of choking better than the Browns?

I think the Bills in the early 90s or the recent Eagles teams are the definition of the word choke. Always dominant in the regular season just to come up short. I don't consider it choking when an underdog comes up short.

If Vick gets ban from the NFL and no endorsements how can he make a living?

Do the Falcons still need to pay him his millions?

If Vick gets ban from the NFL and no endorsements how can he make a living?football

I am not sure, but I would think that a jail term that takes Michael Vick off the football field would allow for the Falcons to release him and not be responsible for any more payments that were set forth in his contract.

I heard on a sports radio show a few days ago that Michael Vick is worth about 4 million at this point. Pathetic, eh? But good for dogs everywhere. His attorneys should take the largest portion of that.

So far as his ability to make a living after prison, I hope he will be forced to be the 'fastest busboy' ever, as another poster mentioned.

The less money that Michael Vick has in his pocket, the better for dogs everywhere.

If Vick gets ban from the NFL and no endorsements how can he make a living?lakers ,nba teams

He could teach people about the horrors of dogfighting, that's if he has learned a lesson in humanity. Dogfighting is for monsters. It's the most cruel thing one could do to a poor dog. I don't pity him for being banned and losing his endorsements. No, I don't think he should be paid millions. They're overpaid kids. They need to really work for the money not play a game.
Uh...If he's banned from the NFL, which he will be if he is found guilty, his contract will be terminated...meaning the Falcons won't have to pay him...
He'll pump gas and clean windows. He'll be the fastest bus boy at your favorite restuarant if he has to. But 1st he'll sell ALL his houses and ALL his cars and ask his mistresses for a place to stay until he learns to live on minimum wage.
No the Falcons can get out of his contract cause of this and then sue him for the signing bounus back..

He is nothing but trash anyway..

I would love to see Vick get jail time and then go broke.. Let him live on the streets like the stray dogs he killed for fun..

But he will end up playing either in Arean Football or Candian football league..

If Not

There is always the Pro Wrestling... lol
I think the falcons still need to pay him... but if they don't need to pay him he can go get a JOB like everyone else.
The Falcons will probably have to pay him something, depending on how is contract is structured. Then again, if he gets convicted and goes to jail, there's probably a clause in there that says they don't have to pay him.

Yea, if he doesn't get paid, how will he ever be able to fund more dog fights? Before you start blasting me for that, it was completely sarcastic.
By investing what ever money he has left over from his legal woes, into real estate and businesses.
NFL contracts aren't guaranteed, so they won't need to pay him. If he gets convicted, the Falcons will just release him. They might even if he isn't convicted.

I'm pretty sure he's set for life anyway. He's been making millions of dollars every year with his NFL contract, not to mention how much money he earned on endorsements.

Unless he was extremely stupid with his money, he really shouldn't have to work again if he doesn't want to.
grooming dogs.
Street pharmacy
If Vick ends up in jail, he won't have to make a living. you and I and everyone else will be paying for his food, clothes, living quarters, etc. WE will be supporting him.
If Vick gets a lifetime ban from the NFL, the Falcons can take back the signing bonus but still has to pay him the contract amount. Vick does not ever have to worry about money anyway, for he made enough in his 5 seasons (contracts, signing bonus, and endorsements) to last him, his children, and his children's children a lifetime. Unless they make some bad bets on dogs ...
You don't really think anybody cares, do you?
He could always bet on dog fighting and rooster fighting.
I am sure Michael and his brother could find some lucrative scheme to make ends meet.
No.He will be flipping burgers at McDonalds earning his flipper badge!
Absolutly not Vick is the scum of the NFL. His contract will become null and void if convicted.
If Vick gets banned he only needs to learn 2 phrases to make a living.

Who is the greatest NFL Linebacker of all time?

Personally, Ray Lewis is mine. His labels say enough, 7 time probowler(could have been eight but he declined to let Bart Scott go) two time defensive player of the year, Super bowl 35 MVP, with many other lesser titles but I won't mention those, I would be up all night. He has the perfect size, 6'1" 245, runs a 4:40 forty, and he plays the game how its supposed to be played, with nastiness, leadership(to the entire league), and a good amount of smack talk to go with it. He has played 11 years, been injured for two of them so its like he has played nine years, put up 1400 tackles, 28 sacks, 23 interceptions, and many more impressive stats. Overall Ray is the best(and still is the best and will be for years to come), if you disagree please argue your point, im very interested in how anyone could disagree.

well, u have a great point. but i think there are a few more that are more noticable. like mike singletary. he led one of (if not the) finest defences in history. then there's dick butkus*sp. he is known for his nastiness. then u got the great steelers linebacker jack lambert. he was nasty, he called plays and unlike many, his plays were right. he was extremely talented and ran one of the premire defences ever as well. the steel curtain. You also have to include Chuck Bednarik. he gave such a devestating hit to Frank Gifford that it pretty much ended his career. he was pretty much the roughest linebacker ever. then there's Joe Schmidt. he was the best olb of all time in my opinion. there's also Lee Roy Jordan. he was one of the best tacklers in the league. he was part of the doomsday device of dallas. so take ur pick. but like i said, just let Ray Lewis finish up his career and let him finish racking up his stats and im sure he'll always be mentioned with the best. he's a definate future hall of famer. well hope this helps.

o and also to all of those people talking about "the real L.T." the only reason he was so good was cuz of "enhansments" so in my opinion that should be thrown out of the drawing. he's a lousy cheater.
Why don't you line up against all the top ones and let them take a run at you and find out, first hand, up and personal. That is like saying, "Who is the best QB ever?" Don't say Joe Montana or Tom Brady either. They both had an all-star cast of players on their teams to help shoulder their teams. If I had to vote, I would go with Dick Butkus, because his era and name come up automatically when LB is mentioned. When I hear Ray Lewis I think "trouble with the law".
Brian urlacher
Lawrence Taylor. He is the quarterback rush. Theres all this talk about steriods in sports today. Just think he did what he did strung out on cocaine. A relaxent. He was a drug addict and dominanted the NFL. Buuuuuuuuuuuuut (argue all you want) Shawne Merriman. Led the league in sacks missing four games took full responsibilty for the steriod charges and it was proven he only took them for one game in which he only had 1 sack. and the nickname lights out..... in highschool in the first half of a game he knocked 3 quarterbacks (all three) unconcious and 1 WR and the ref threw him out for the safety of the other team. If merriman keeps it up he will be the all-time leader in sacks and will go down as one of if not THE best LB if all time. he plays just like Lawrence Taylor.
Dick butkis.
Lawrence Taylor was clearly the best Linebacker ever he was the perfect linebacker he has 132 career sacks (Most ever by a Linebacker) he was named MVP in 1986 he has 9 career interceptions he has 33 forced fumbles and 12 fumbles recovered, he has over 1100 career tackles he had amazing speed, strength, he was a hard hitter he intimidated any QB due to the fact that he was a sacking machine he has tons of NFL records, he went to 10 straight Pro Bowls, he was also 3 time Defensive Player Of The Year, he was about 6'3 240-50 pounds, he was simply the perfect linebacker.

That's why I think he is the greatest Linebacker of All-Time, Ray Lewis is definetly one of the top Linebackers every but Lawrence Taylor is the best Linebacker ever.
Jack Lambert, Mike Singletary, Lawrence Taylor, Dick Butkus, etc.

If you ask him who he plays like, he'll probably say these guys. He's a great player but these guys are legends.
I would have to say Lawrence Taylor. He was also the greatest Defensive player who ever lived. His size, 6' 4" and 260 was perfect. He was also usually the fastest guy out on the field, and because of it, teams had to rewrite the playbooks around him because of his unbeliveable speed and ability to be anywhere on the feild in a matter of seconds. And theres no way Ray Lewis runs a 4.4 today.

You also have to put Mike Singletary and Dick Butkus up there.
Dick Butkus or Mike Singletary

GO BEARS!!!
agreed

that was my answer as i clicked on the question
jack lambert of the steelers
Lewis is great, not the greatest of all time though; currently I would consider Urlacher as a better choice than Ray, though it is very close.

For a the physical stats you have, and the accolades, Urlacher can flat out cover guys in the open field, which is where it seems he is better than Ray Lewis. Lewis has also been blessed with some great players where Brian has had good players.

All time brings about the different eras of the league, and you'd have to wonder how Ray would do; there is the argument of his nastiness would work out, but chopping defenders was as legal as clothesline tackles. The muddy fields and poor turf would have countered his speed in the later parts of the season. Today's fields are kept in immaculate shape and many stadiums have field turf; and of course the players play differently. Ditka, Jim Brown, Kellen Winslow, Van Eagan, et al. didn't run out of bounds they ran until they collided with someone. On that not, I wonder how Urlacher would far in Butkus' time.

Zach Thomas also needs to be mentioned a bit, as he was drafted 154th in the same year that Ray Lewis was a first round pick. Yet any defense with one of these 3 would be better.
i would agree hes a beast
Yes..Taylor Hands Down, Drugs or not,..but he was never 260 at playing weight, he was around 242-245(maybe he reported to camp once at 250 and Parcells made him run around the field 20 times until he lost some water weight!!!)
Lawrence Taylor revolutionized the position. He was faster and stronger than any who came before him. Before him, linebackers were typically big, slow, behemoths who were very skilled at getting in the way of offenses rather than chasing them down. His numbers might not be the same-- some might be better--but although Ray Lewis is an amazing player, linebackers today are a lot like him. Most aren't as talented--see Urlacher and Briggs of Chicago--but the style they try to play with is very similar to his. Taylor had a style all his own which transformed the position on a whole.
I have a pair of HOF Jack's that disagree : Ham and Lambert. Both of whom have more Pro Bowls more INTS and more rings than Ray Lewis.
BUTKUS!
LT
Mike Singletary hands down
Ray is VERY good. Definately at the top, but my pick is Lawrence Taylor. He redefined how linebackers play. Revolutionized pass rush. Don't have his numbers on hand but I know they were very good.
The original LT, Lawrence Taylor.
NO freaking way

The best defensive player and thus linebacker is lawrence taylor

NFL All-Pro: 8 years

Pro Bowl: 10 years

All-1980s Decade Team

There has been no defensive player like him...PERIOD!!!
Ray Lewis
Lawrence Taylor

Ray Nitchski

Dick Butkis

Derrick Thomas

Ted Hendrix

Ray Lewis

Brain Urlacher
Dick Butkis
Derrick Thomas.

Just looking at his stats: 126? sacks and 649 tackles in 10 NFL seasons. That's unheard of, plus the single-game record for sacks(7). I think he would easily have quite a few NFL records if he hadn't been killed.
Dick Butkus - Chicago Bears. 8 time pro-bowler. 6 time All-NFL. Member of the Pro-Football Hall of Fame. Named by the NFL in 2000 as a member of the All-Time team. 6'3" 250, and defined the position of middle linebacker (hence the Butkus Award). In 9 seasons, put up 1020 tackles, 489 assists, 22 interceptions and 27 fumble recoveries, one for a touchdown (sacks were not a statistic until after his retirement. His career was shortened due to a serious knee injury. With today's medical technology, there is no telling how much longer he could have played and what stats he would have amassed. He played the game at only one speed - 100 percent all the time. He was the most feared player of his era. Lewis is good, but Butkus is the measure by which Lewis and all others are measured.
The Original was LT........Before him it "Could" have been Thomas "Hollywood" Henderson who Dallas used on a kickoff return and he ran it back for a TD.

Ray Lewis is great, Dick Butkis%26amp;Ray Nitzski(wrong spelling) were great in their time
Anyone who doesn't answer Lawrence Taylor needs to get their brains checked. Lawrence Taylor changed the way Offense was played. You moved on offense depending on the way Lawrence Taylor was playing.
got 2 go w/ Urlacher. he'll just get better with the years even when he's getting old (4 football). He'll be just as good or better then Ray Lewis

How do you wash an NFL cap?

Like a baseball cap? Put it on the top rack of the dishwasher.

How do you wash an NFL cap?nba mvp

Bed, Bath and Beyond sells hat thingys that you put your hat into. It looks like a baseball hat only made of plastic, the cap goes into it, you put it into the washer and wash. When it comes out just hang it somewhere until it dries, then wear it.

How do you wash an NFL cap?nba trades ,nba teams

The dishwasher works well if it's not a cheap hat with cardboard in the bill. Put it on the top rack, and air dry it when it's done.
In the dishwasher in a ball cap washing device
I have always worn a dirty one into a swimming pool. It works well.

or

Run in a normal wash cycle and air dry by lying flat
my boyfriend always claims the dishwasher is the best place

just throw it in and wash it.
Right you get some Water And soap and clean away!
dry clean
Go here and order this. It works perfect and won't ruin your hat at all. They also have them at any sporting goods store or Walmart and Target but here's at least what it looks like. Good luck! :)

http://www.organizes-it.com/pocapwasher....
We bought a hat cage from Wal-Mart, you can get them anywhere, then just put it in the dishwasher, with detergent, be sure to get dishwashing detergent without bleach and be sure it is NOT and citrus scent, just plain or baking soda scented. Works great!
Most sporting goods companies sell a plastic ball cap frame that you insert the cap into prior to washing and drying. The frame will not allow the cap to shrink or warp. Pretty inexpensive item normally not more than $10.00. Hope this helps.
give it to a linebacker and have it tackle it
You can put it in the washer on premanent press or gentle cycle, then hang to dry.
this might sound weird but put it on the top rack of the dishwasher. it work's seriously.
I use a baseball cap washer that I purchased from Linens %26amp; Things or Bed, Bath %26amp; Beyond and put it in the dishwasher or washing machine on gentle.

How do you BECOME A NFL COACH?

I know you have to have ALOT of experience and probably start coaching in HS first. So how do you start coaching at a high school and then move on?

How do you BECOME A NFL COACH?college football

#1: You need to work on your video taping skills.

How do you BECOME A NFL COACH?nba.com ,nba teams

like any other job work up through your achievements
All you need is one good video camera, and know how to use it
It is a long road. You must know the game, move onto college, have success, move on to a biggercollegeand have success, and then get a lucky break and volunteer to do quality control for a sucky NFL team. Get coffee for 10-15years and hopefully become some higher ups friend.
leadership skills! experience! hardwork! knowledge! and patience!
cheat and run up the score and you can coach the Patriots*

In all seriousness it helps if you played, then you might be able to get a spot on that team high school orcollegeand work your way up with experience and a good record.
Applications are available at your local post office.
College is your best bet. You can make contacts and start coaching and hopefully get a job doing something a decent level of football and then move from there. You don't always have to start in HS, you can start atcollegeschools and places like that. Our football at my Div. 3collegejust got hired at Div AA school this year. He coached here for about 10 years and then got a better offer. Just make a connection and see what happens...and find a good moving company
Start caoching at the highest level you can get into and try to keep moving up to the next level I'd say.
If u go tocollegethere is a thing where students can help the coaches and if u try that at a goodcollegewith good coaches u can learn a lot then become a head coach in HS by applying for the coaching job there and if u do very good u could get to coach incollegeand probably go to an assistant in the NFL then finally a head coach if u are a good assistant. It depends on how well u know the game. And for a lot of people it takes many years to become a head coach in the NFL.

Do you think the planned UFL can compete with the NFL?

I really don't. XFL failed, but they said this would be different, but it wont. Everyone knows and loves the NFL and knows all the players and it's way better.

End.

Do you think the planned UFL can compete with the NFL?nba free agents

A few years ago the USFL was started and had some notable players on their rosters. But it ultimately failed and the NFL continued on. A couple of years back the XFL started up and failed. I don't really think the UFL can come even close to competing with the NFL. The NFL is a multi-billion dollar industry and is the strongest of all the major sports in North America. The NFL is the place for the best football players to play, not some fly by night league. I will not be watching any UFL games.

Do you think the planned UFL can compete with the NFL?nba logo ,nba teams

i would love to have the ufl suceed as a minor league so talented kids who cant make it incollegebecause of book smarts have another option to develop their talents othe than the arena league and so that subpar nfl caliber players have other options besides quitting football.nfl europe is a joke! Report It

I believe that the proposed UFL cannot compete with the NFL. The NFL is to well known and has to many big names that people are attracted to go see. I believe that the UFL will become the new NFL europe. I believe that teams will see the finiancial benefit of sending players to these teams and treating them like the farm systems in baseball. This way the NFL teams will get the interest from cities which will result in more money for the NFL teams.
Not a chance.
yea nothing can compete with the NFL I think they might win a few games from weaker teams but they wont be any comparison unless the NFL splits up all of its players
No, it might last a season or two and will probably be more legit than the XFL but the NFL has it's legacy and nobody will ever be able to match that. The problem with these leagues is they try to be as big as the NFL from the start. It will never wotk that way, you have to due you time and pay you dues. Pick up some halfway descent players pay them mabey 20grand a season tops and get someone like Vs. to televise you championship game.

PS the AFL doesn't really compete with the NFL in that its played in the spring and uses a diferent sort of player.
Maybe if they plan to have more than 8 teams, the NFL has 32 teams but if they only have 8 teams then no they won't stand a chance against the NFL. The UFL should be called XFL2. Its a mistake to play UFL games games on only Friday night because it will interfere with high school football games.
They don't have a chance. They would be spending their money better if they decide to put it to domestic, humanitarian use.
First of all, the XFL was nothing but gimmicks.

Will the UFL be able to compete? Maybe. Maybe some of the teams - Los Angeles and San Antonio - will eventually be absorbed into the NFL.
hell no and why are they trying to make another league for, well to me the NFL is the only football league worth watching
not even close
UFL will prolly end up like the XFL.dead
To compete with the NFL you have to play at the same time as the NFL. You wold have to be patient. 5 or 6 years to establish your league. You would have to be cheaper to see. You would need TV contracts. You would need markets the NFL doesn't have as well as some major markets they are in. The average fan can;t really tell the difference in skill levels from one league to the next. If the announcers don't tell you a player isn't up to the NFL standards you might not know it if he looks good in the league he's in. The ufl could compete with the NFL, but they really need to play Sundays and let the most exciting game win.
I don't know what the UFL is, but nothing can compete with the NFL, it's history, the Super Bowls, etc. It's where the greatest football players in the world are, it's where all the money is, nothing will change that.
No Way!! Look at Arena Football!
I truly doubt it if it tries to go head to head with the NFL, I believe it should be on Friday and Saturday Nights, when the NFL isn't on. Also the contract structure should be that of the NFL, and not that paycheck **** from the XFL
I don't see anything able to compete with the NFL. NFL has too much money.
It will have more success than the XFL, but the fact of the matter is that the talent and level of play will not be on par with the NFL. According to Mark Cuban, the UFL will attract players that typically enter the NFL Draft and are selected in the later rounds. The UFL is hoping for a Tom Brady type of player to slip through the grips of NFL franchises. Although that could happen, the caliber of talent will be significantly less than the NFL and could be a league for younger players to showcase their talent in order to make it to the NFL. That's how I will see the purpose of the UFL if formed.
haha. thats a funny one. no i do not because of the amount of athleticism America has. Also because no other country plays this competitive football
Not at all. Look at XFL, USFL, and arena football.
didn't they try this like almost 25 years ago with the usfl

it failed

don trump tried to buy a championship but couldn't

he had Doug Flutie and Hershel walker but still didn't win the big game

it was 4 or 5 all stars on each team and the rest were undraftedcollegeplayers.

only a few teams made money and it went bust in 3 years

they also won a major law suit against the NFL and thought they were going to get big money but the judge awarded them 1 dollar

no i don't think any other league will ever take off

it would be good thing if it could be looked at as a minor league type of deal for has beens and younger players to get a shot and if the teams were in towns that don't have NFL teams like the cfl did back in the 90's

How do I find the player salaries and length of contracts of nfl teams?

WASHINGTON REDSKINS

i believe they have as good of a chance to get to the Superbowl as anyone, i think they finish with a record of 13~3

they have so much talent , if their season ends up worse than i think they'll do , it will be because of their chose in head coach . i know someone made a bad choose in that department . but i still see them doing extremely well , i think they will win the NFC east ,

GOD , it hurts my feelings to say it but our rival looks awesome , anyone who knows football knows the biggest rival in all of sports.
Seahawks. They'll win it all for Holmgren with no more than 5 losses is my predicition. They've got a moderately tough scheudle having to play at the Giants, Cowboys and Bucs while facing the Patriots and Packers at home. The NFC West is getting better too, the Rams should bounce back from last year and the Cardinals are on the rise; the 49ers did have a 7-9 season in 2006 too, though they really faltered last year and it'll be interesting to see if they can bounce back, especially with Mike Nolan and Alex Smith both on the hot seat. If Seattle can come out with less than 5 losses, then I'd say they're in great shape. I'm really expecting them to make a big push to try to send Mike Holmgren out with a bang though.
People have such a hard time being realistic when it comes to there sports teams.

Bears 9-7, 8-8, 7-9

Cardinals 8-8, 7-9, 6-10

I stood up for Rex the last 2 years and I am done with him, as long as the Bears have Rex, it does not matter how good there D plays and how many return TD's Hester gets, they wont finsh better then a game over .500 at best. Keep an eye out for there 2nd round draft pick RB Matt Forte, his workouts with the bears were amazing and he lead the nation in rushing yards last year, he looks really good. With an aging O-Line though, and no pass game the bears will see 8 man fronts all year long which would make it hard for even the late great Walter to have success (he still would though). ;)

The bears easy schedule this year will really help them out.

As far as the Cards go, Lienhart is over rated. Warner will not get a real shot at starting unless Lienhart gets injured or the cards are 2-8 to start the season and then its too late. Theres trouble already in the locker room, Boldin is unhappy about Fitzgerald getting the huge contract while he is not making half that and Dockett is skiping out on the initial team practices because he thinks he has "arrived" after one pro bowl year.
Cowboys, and with the revamped secondary and drafting Feix Jones, which is the perfect compliment for Barber. Should be able to pull out a 14-2 record.
My team is the GB Packers.

I think that they'll actually do pretty good. As much as people believe that they can't win without Brett Favre, they really can. They have much more talent on their team at positions other than QB.

12-4, winning the division over the lowly Bears.

EDIT: Chargers 15-1? C'mon, be realistic...

insaneblackhawksfan: Finally! A reasonable Bears fan!
rams 8-8, the things holding them back last year where there OL, there WRs behind tory holt, and there lack of a pass rush, this year they tock the first WR drafted, they got jackob bell in free agentcy along with john greco in the draft, and chris long with the second pick, so they fixed all those problems, i am not saying they will be great or even in the play offs but there futer is looking good.
Chargers

Something like last year.. 12-4 or 11-5. Far into the playoffs, if not superbowl.
Vikings 10-6 win the NFC North Eliminated in the Divisional Round of the playoffs. Sorry Packers fans its not going to be your year.
Green Bay Packers

Edit: 16-0 super bowl(be realistic.)

Go Brohm!!!!!!!!!
Steelers: 12-4

Dolphins: 3-13
The Dallas Cowboys they will go 14-2 and win the Super Bowl Tony Romo will be the MVP
Indianapolis Colts
Dolphins 7-9
Bears and I hope last place so we get the Number 1 Draft pick (Because they ain't winning the Super Bowl).
tampa 10-6 on the account that we have an easy schedule and our division sucks.
49ers 8-8
Kansas City Chiefs and i hope they will be right back up where they were last season
chargers 15-1

win the super bowl!
raiders, 8-8
Jets

10-6 and will win the AFC East (the Pats will go 9-7)
Tampa Bay Bucs. 9-7
Baltimore Ravens. Playoffs, but they have to win more than 5 games!!
Lions - 16-0

Patriots 13-3

Both go head to head in Super Bowl.
Saints 9-7 or 10-6
Bears. 8-8 at best.
patriots!!

16-2

im bein realistic here..unlike ms. chargers are going 15-1
pats 14-2
my Boys will probably go 13-3, and i'm guessin they win the superbowl.
